Rehash over new prcing who is a "star player"

Have finally enough to go 100% on my set, is any player listed in SMR considered a star? So in my case, common is 12 bucks Stan Hack managewr is listed as 15 bucks. That will be considered a star? Where are they drawing the line? High numbers are 20 bucks Clem Labione is listed as 30? SO is he a star????? Please let me know so I can spend my X-mas (shopping) money on grading!!!!image

  • I was thinking of the same question. I see some of the '67 high number common SP's are now listed in SMR..Does that make some of the non-star guys stars now? If the SMR provides more comprehensive price guide info in the future, does that mean less cards will qualify as commons? Inquiring minds want to know.

Until PSA gives a concrete definition of a "star" player, they'll be getting no more cards from me. It's bad enough they can't publish a list of exactly what they do grade.......now this....utterly ridiculous !

I think that I would just play dumb and send in just about anything but obvious stars. Stay away from Hall of Famers and such. What is the worst thing that can happen? You get a couple cards back ungraded, or an email from PSA saying you owe them a couple bucks. For the most part I think unless you obviously try to beat the system you'll be OK.

Republican - Hack is safe to send in under the common pricing. Labine has more of the '55 Dodgers premium than a star designation (after all, look what the '55 Amoros goes for).
