I did great on my 70's stuff. The grader was a little harsh on my Garbage Pail Kids since they came straight from a wax box but I can live with that. The 1986's were a fun test since I've never sent in any before. They came out pretty much like I expected. Also some of you might remember a thread that I started about that 1984 Marino at the end. It came out of a GEM 10 holder that I picked up for half the price of a PSA 8 so I should do very well on that one. If closing prices are still the same, that one should sell for about 5 times my cost. So lesson is, not all GEM cards are bad. I think I will be selectively looking for some more GEM graded cards to play the crack and grade game in the near future.

Yeah I corssed a 1977 Topps Nolan Ryan from a Gem 10 to a PSA 9. I bought it a year ago, and I measured it so I dont think it was trimmed, but who knows. Bottom line, it helps my registry, and I'm up pretty well off the $45 that I paid for it.
  • Make sure not to buy GEM from Kane04 and you should have a 50/50 shot

I'm glad they're turning around those $5 no-time-limit specials in 3 days, but I wish they would go a little faster on the 5-day specials they charge $12 for. My last couple $12 specials, they didn't even log them within 5 days of receipt. Once logged in, though, they did abide by the 5-day pledge.

I suppose it makes sense from a cover-your-ass point of view to delay the logging until you are sure you can grade them in 5 days. But it sure is frustrating when you pay extra, then wait and watch the no-hurry cards fly in and out at hyper speed. Maybe the vintage people were on vacation and their staff was lopsided toward modern graders at the time.
