  • I got the exact email ......
that laptoseller@yahoo.com has been added to my acct.
Rec'd 3 emails to be exact. 2 in one day, and 1 the following.
I knew it was BS and sent it to spoof@paypal.com and they
    confirmed that it was bogus.

I also received one of the "Paypal Receipt" emails....the one
you get right after you made the purchase. It showed the item #, and the purchase was for $275. 2 receipts. Both was for Myst II or III. I checked the item # and it was something silly for $11.00 and not what was said. Hope all these scums get what's coming to them one day.
  • I seem to get these things a couple times a week. Someone told me that Eastern European and Asian organized crime are behind them. I'd like to know how they are getting my email address from the eBay/Paypal monopoly. I had thought that eBay and Paypal had implemented protections against unwwanted persons looking up emails.

Firstly as well we all should know - Never click on an e-mail link unless you are 100% sure it is legitimate. Not 99% sure, 100% sure. There are people out there who want to electronically steal your money and phony e-mails are a way to do it. If there is some e-mail "supposedly" from PayPal or ebay which concerns you - then clickoff your e-mail and logon directly to the PayPal or ebay website and check it out.

Secondly - I don't know about this particular e-mail, but there are also people out there who send out phony e-mails just to aggravate masses of people, or aggravate a particular company which hissed them off.
  • One thing to remember.....any Paypal or Ebay emails that addresses
a concern will always have your "First & Last Name" at the beginning of the email. It's not suppose to say Dear Paypal User, Ebay User, or Dear Customer or anything else.
