I am not seeing a nickel set. They had the one this year with the old nickels together with the new nickels. I kind of figured they would do one with just the 4 new nickels. Am I just not seeing it?
  • Tmot,

I think that it is listed as tentatively out in September.

I find it hard to believe they will have PROOF sets available starting Jan 6!

This goes against all their past practices. Usually those sets start peaking their heads up in May or June.

However, if they stick to this schedule, I'd not be unhappy. I like getting stuff from the mint, early and often.

Seems like they have their work cut out for them. Let's see if they can actually stick to the schedule.

This means California is about to get onboard. Will the speculations about high demand by people just getting started on the series be accurate. This could really make the 1999 silver sets go up, maybe, maybe not.

Whats the deal with a 230 year anniversary coin? Yes the US Marine Corps theme is good, but why 230 years?

That is quite an aggressive schedule. I'm sure things are humming at the mint as we speak.

That January 6th date is for the 5 coin proof State quarters set. The 11 coin proof set with the cent, 2 nickels, dime, half, dollar and the 5 quarters will be available March 9th. Steve

Whew! I better start saving my money for January image

  • This is good stuff, thank you.
  • So, with the move to earlier in the year, of the proof and mint sets, is that why sales of the 2004 sets were cut off like they were?

I have also noticed Robert Chambers on the Coin Vault stating (when selling proof sets) that the 2004 Sac dollar will be the last one, yet there are the 2005 Sac dollars for sale on January 24. I didn't think he was quite right on that one (sales hype). image
