COIN INSPECTION LAMP'S?

Any suggestions or feedback on coin inspection lamps? What's been your experience, ie
any particular models. How about clip-on magnifiers? Any good?

  • I use one of those $9.95 clamp on adjustable lamps from Office Depot with a 100 watt G.E. reveal bulb and my 10X triple loupe. Works much better than regular incandesent lighting. Those adjustable lamps also make it easier on the back.image

  • Yea, that's similar to the set-up I have but I was wondering if anyone has purchased a halogen type lamp
    and likes it.
I know Brent-Krueger sells brushed adjustable halogen coin inspection lamps on their site for about $29.00.
  • Halogen lamps bring out all the flaws which will cause you to possibly undergrade your coin.

  • In a general sense, you're correct. As it relates to the lamp that Deb mentioned, you're incorect. It all depends on how the light is diffused as it stikes the coin's surface. This lamp uses a convex-shaped 3/8" ground glass diffuser, unlike most desktop halogen lamps which usually have a flat diffuser of clear or artificially frosted glass.
