OT: Buying jewelry on ebay?

Has anyone ever bought jewelry on ebay? My brother-in-law is looking at some diamond bracelets listed on ebay and asked for my help/opinion.

I'm fairly skeptical of the items, but the feedback is pretty solid. Any words of advice?

Here's the actual item. They seem to sell for about $200, judging from past auctions.

Personally, I view buying jewelry on eBay the same as buying it from that guy on the street who wants to sell you a Rollex.

Not to mention that I think that bracelet is junk, IMO. "Champagne" colored diamonds are another way of saying way off-color, rejected stones. The metal is 10k gold and I'm not sure why the seller keeps repeating (stamped) after saying it's gold. That may be industry slang for NOT solid gold. Kinda like "gold-filled" = gold-plated.

the only thing ive ever bought was an 18kt gold ring.. i bought it from somebody with relatively low feedback (50-60) but they're feedback was all good.. they werent a "jewelry dealer" or anything, just somebody wanting to sell a ring..

    the transaction was successful..

  • i just bought my wife a 3kt tennis braclet last x-mas and i got a good deal @ 2700.00. So there is no way this is anything worth buying.

File in the if it's to good to be true catagory.
