Coin Price Sources?

Pardon the dumb question but I have relied on the PCGS Price Guide only to be amazed in both directions. Both up and down.
What would be a good source of current pricing trends on coins and proof sets? As an example, I recently sold a 2001 proof set to a local dealer and was expecting about $15 net as PCGS has it listed for $30 in average condition. I received much more than $15. I did some after the fact research and was amazed to see these sets going for better than a $100 on the market. Had I known that, I would have kept it.
Is there anything produced on a regular basis that gives current pricing trends?

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
