Coin show planning....how to decide what to buy???

Do you actually plan out your purchases for a show or do you just go looking for good deals and coins that strike your fancy. I know that many folks are pretty focused on collecting just one or two coins series so they probably stick with a want list of needed coins to complete the set.

For those of you that are like me and are no where near a complete set of anything.......what is your typical game plan?

I am leaning towards picking up a key date coin though I haven't decided on a series. I also collect toned Morgans as most of you know, but I am thinking that my odds of finding a fairly priced toner at a large show like the FUN show is going to be quite difficult.

I am just trying to narrow down my options right now so any input on insight into your individual planning process would be greatly appreciated. image

I tend to have a want list on hand for what I collect. But a lot of times I end up buying something relatively cheap that I would not expect to buy, just because I like it.

I think from an investment standpoint, purchasing a key date coin would be a smart move, but I am a collector first and investor second so.........I like to get nice coins and not low grade keys that lack a lot of the detail and eye appeal.
