German Seller

That guy have a very impressive list of silver ship coins with very attractive prices, but two things (at least two!image) : could I see that store in any more common language, than German image directly at E-bay, or should I use for that purpose some of Web automatical translators? And ..what it means the grade "Used" ??!imageimageimage

Thanks in advance for any comments! image

I would think that "used" applied to everything "circulated"image

    Here is a translation site

  • Thanks, Theboz ! Any other opinions, guys about about grade "used"?! It couldn't be "circulated" as all his coins in Proof condition, so may be "used" means that it has been used as the coins in somebody's collection and not cames directly from the Mint? imageimageimage

First off, MDM or Münzhandelsgesellschaft Deutsche Münze is a place to purchase mint products from other countries. Another words MDM is the official company in Europe that is licensed to sell mint products from Canada, USA, South Africa, France, Spain, Austria, Norway and a few other places. I don't think the Royal mint is one of their partners. Anyway, it seems to me that this seller is selling some of his proof coins he purchased from MDM. I get the impression that these are proof coins from the various world mints MDM deals with. It looks like the coin comes in a proof capsule from the mint of their country along with a description of the coin.

It would be like buying a coin from the Royal Canadian Mint that comes in the case, capsule and with the description of the coin. If you're interested I have linked the page to MDM in this thread

Edit for a few spelling corrections.
  • Thanks for your interesting explanations! Still wondering about the grade "used" ??! What could it be for the proof coins? May be he would like to say , that it was once collected by somebody, so it is already used?

May be I should ask it him, myself, in case he speaks English image

Drop 1jester a PM. He's quite fluent in German ..... die, der, oder das!! image
  • You could always use Babelfish.com to translate your question. I've done business with several German-speaking sellers that way. I always conclude my translated messages with: "I don't speak German, so please forgive any errors in this machine translation."image

This seller claims to be selling his collection off. All coins are original as he bought them and in capsules. They are proof strikes of silver coins. He wants 3 euro per envelope for shipping, and 6 euro for insured shipping. I suppose if you bought multiple coins, he'd combine shipping charges, and in that case he requests you to send him an email for the exact costs. He says the buyer pays shipping costs, and he pays ebay fees. He requests you to pay him within 10 days of the close of the auction, due to deadbeat ebayers. Otherwise he'll sic ebay on you (make a complaint). If you should have any questions whatsoever, he asks you to email him and he'll be happy to answer.

Down at the bottom, where he lists postage fees again, he says that insured and uninsured packages can be sent to Germany only. That sounds confusing. Why is he listing all over Europe, then? Why are these auctions listed on ebay England? And to the description of "used", I don't know what that means, except it seems to be a description by ebay and not him. I don't know about that, except what he describes in the auction, and that is specifically that the coins are proof (perfect condition).

I get the feeling he's fair and professional, but of course that's only from looking at the way he presents his wares and conditions. You should check his feedback yourself; I haven't.

You can always send him a question in English, or send me your questions in English and I'll translate them for you. Good luck, Shipcoin!!
