2005 Silver Britannia - First Photo!

The 2005 Silver Britannias will be released in early January 2005 with an all new "Seated Britannia" design by award-winning sculptor Philip Nathan.

Sorry about the poor quality photo... I scanned it from the British Royal Mint press release which was sent to BRM dealers today.

Looks like the sea gets a lot less emphasis on this modern version. Britannia has literally turned her back upon the sea. More symbolic of focusing on the British Isles and a policy of Isolationism? I miss the lighthouse.

To answer the earlier questions...

1. The press release did not specifiy the finish but I would bet (hope) that it will be "reverse proof" - frosted fields and proof-like images.

2. Yes, these coins will be available on my website in mid to late January. I have to buy 1,000 minimum from the BRM. If any other dealers want part of the lot, that would help since these have gotten quite expensive to buy. Please PM me if interested.
