1950- 1964 Jefferson ANACS Proofs on eBay

I'm not a Jefferson collector, but it would seem this is a pretty good deal for every single proof Jefferson minted between 1950 to 1964. Some in higher grades too.
I know the big rush is CAMEO and DCAM coins, but for a well matched set, this seems like a pretty good price?
Any Jefferson collectors who can tell us why these seem to be so cheap? (Can you image if this was a set of Franklins, same grades?)
I barely know who this eBay seller is and have no affiliation with the auction in any form.

A local dealer in Chicago has a similar set, far better looking, with gem quality (non) cameo proofs in a Capital Plastics holder in their window at $185, and it's been there a while. I'd sooner pony up the $ for that set and avoid paying for plastic grades I don't really agree with anyway. The bottom line is those coins don't appeal to me.
while i'm not sure what originalbest sees as splotchy and unappealing milky/dull/fuzzy toning, most of the coins are just too common in the grades that are listed. the 1950-1954's might be worth buying but the others are way high at the average price of $20/coin. i purchased a set in a Capital holder dated 1955-1964 about two years ago for $18. now that's a price that's too good to pass up. if you really need a set like the one offered and want to spend the $300, i bet i could do better than Howard------directly.

what I've seen, they seem to grade these proofs fairly, if not conservatively.
There are probably a few worthwhile coins in there (early dates) but, as Al stated,
the later dates are way too common in these grades to be worth much.
It's hard to tell from a scan this size, but that '54 in PF67 might be a real pretty
coin in hand.

I've always wanted one of these in GEM grade (PR65 or better) for the year 1950. I'd prefer NGC but would accept PCGS. Do you have one available?

I'm now the proud, new owner of a sparkling PCGS PR67 1950 Jefferson thanks to Ken!

Going to assemble the rest of a '50 set, or just wanted the nickel?
The nicest '50 set I can recall seeing personally was at Eliot's in Champaign, IL, back when I was in school. Not cameo anything but very appealing, light, peripheral gold toning on all the silver coins, and gemmy, spot and haze-free surfaces on everything, with a bright red cent. I didn't have the $$$ to afford it. Nor the really nice 1856 flyer in PCGS XF-45 I was shown that day, either! This would have been in 1993-1994.

I've always just wanted to add the Jefferson to my collection. a CAMEO would have been nice, but it's tough to knock a PR67 (PCGS).

i'm glad one of the other fanatics was able to help you out.
