New Services & Service Changes at PSA for Next Year

Dear PSA customer,

As 2004 comes to a close, I wanted to make you aware of some changes that will occur starting January 1, 2005.

There will be a few changes to our PSA submission form so please make sure you are aware of the modifications. Most notably are the elimination of the Economy Service level and overall adjustment of the declared value rules applied to all services at or above the $15 Regular Service.

In addition, we have added a couple of services as well. We will offer a new Premium Commons Service at $10/10-day for customers who would like a faster turnaround time on common cards that may not be valued high enough to justify submission at the $15 or higher levels. We will still offer our Common Bulk Services but we felt that PSA should offer a higher quality service since the grading of commons has become a huge part of the market.

PSA will also offer a new "Pedigree" service that will allow collectors to personalize their labels. For example, the John Doe Collection may appear on the PSA label. In order to qualify for this service, each card and/or set will be evaluated on a case by case basis. This service will be reserved for "special" cards which must meet certain high-end or rare criteria. Please call for details. These Pedigree submissions must be approved in advance so call customer service today for more details.

Also, keep in mind that you are always welcome to call for bulk pricing if you have large quantities of cards that you want to grade, etc. We try to price these exceptions fairly so all types of cards can be afforded PSA grading.

Please check our website at www.psacard.com/new_submission_news.chtml for a complete list of services, including the modifications that will go into effect at the beginning of 2005. Updated submission forms are also available online or may be requested by mail.

From all of us at PSA, thank you for your support over the years. You have continued to make PSA the foundation of all great collections.

Sincerely,

Joe Orlando
PSA President

  • What if everyone took a break from submitting cards, say for a month or two, think that might impact Mr. Orlandos business decision.

It makes no sense! To dominate the market you should want to have the vast majority of cards in the hobby in your holders. Not discourage collectors from grading commons with PSA.

They should also have special lower rates for cross-overs. Think about it. They're not only putting a card in they're holder, but also decreasing the competitions market share with each cross-over.

Maybe this will finally push the SMRs up on vintage commons. If you bid SMR on any pre-war common, you lose 99% of the time, so why not have the SMRs refect actual values being paid for vintage cards. If their prices actually are the Suggested Market Retail prices on vintage cards, I'd like to know where they shop..... image

live each day like it's your last but don't count on it!
  • Seems kinda late now that most vintage cards are in holders, especially ones from a pedigreed collection/find.

You cannot own ONE N-19 Pirate card Uncle Elmer! None are for you!

You must be reduced to collect the bird and animal series of Allen and ginter cards instead!
