Okay, so I generally don't bother with links to auctions complaining about them...so I decide to check this one out of sheer boredom.
Now I only grade half a dozen or so Morgans in a year if I can possibly help it, and my grading of those Morgans isn't the best by a far stretch of the imagination. I do claim to be a complete novice where these particular coins are involved because I simply don't like them. But come on....ANY moron could see that coin isn't CLOSE to AU.
Regarding it's toning, I could really care less, but I did manage to stay awake long enough to wade through the diatribe and come to the point. As far as I'm concerned, his story regarding how they were toned seems plausible, maybe even possible. At any rate, it shows what happens on a regular basis when people store coins improperly - they change color. Why is it so hard to believe? Storing coins in a desert attic in colored tissue paper? You don't expect horrid results like the specimen he offers as a plausible result for this careless storage method?
Edited to add: I certainly hope his story regarding the deceased military member is true - because if it's not, it's the most deplorable form of capitalism (or an attempt thereof) I have ever seen.
I posted about this once before, but I live at Edwards AFB (2 miles from the base). The story he describes is to me nothing but fantasy. For a coin to tone in the manner he describes is next to impossible uner natural conditions here in the desert. For one, we have very low humidity out here during most months and especially so in the heat of summer. Our attics do get hot, but not hot enough to melt plastic bags as he describes. The final clincher is the fact that as of today, we have had no Air Force casualties from Edwards in either Iraq or Afghanistan. In fact the only casualties we have had are two local boys, Marines, stationed at Camp Pendleton, who were young single men, not married with children living locally.
With all that having been said the guy is a complete scumbag and deserves any bad that comes his way. For people to use the war to conjure up lies for monetary gain, especially those of our great soldiers losing their lives, is an act for which he shall rot in hell for eternity. Don't worry about losers like this, they always end up having to answer to someone for their lies and deceit.

And I thought that seller was pulling the plug on his selling status, due to his dislike for the worshippers of the slab god??
