Knowledge Is King

Nice article by Ron Guth about spending some time "In The Book's". Gives an example of an 1804 half cent that was cherry picked by someone "With Knowledge" of the series. Nice Read. I need to do more of this myself, how about you? Here's the link:

That is a great story. It reminded me of one from a couple years ago. There were two guys who were friends and both collected a certain type of medal (I don't remember what it was specifically). One guy finds an example on ebay, and the medal is worth about $20,000. But it's listed in some unusual category with a BIN of $455. To their amazement, the same seller lists another one a few days later, this time with a BIN of $500, so each guy ended up with one!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
