Does this deserve a PSA 8? I'm thinking of bidding...

    Looks like a solid 8 too me, visualy a very nice card.

    It's hard to tell from a scan; the centering looks within the parameters to me - with almost a week left to bid and this card is already getting a lot of play. Good luck.

    did a quick ebay check and the last '54 psa 8 snider sold for $661.00. but pic was gone.

    Nothing to dislike about the card.

    But this bothers me: "User ID kept private" - I simply ignore and will not bid from any sellers doing this. Basically the sellers know that other ebayers will be unable to contact the winner informing them of a scam. This could mean a stolen scan - Yes the PSA # is probably legitimate but the seller may not really have the card. This particular auction may not be a scam, but I'm not going to win the bid, and then find out that it was a scam after getting ripped-off.

    I really wouldn't be surprised to find out that sfrank7381 is not only the seller (jeterslove) of this card but also possibly an ID used by the seller for artificially inflating the bidding. sfrank7381 has been an eBay member for approximately 14.5 months and his only feedback is from the seller (jeterslove) of this card. Also, sfrank7381 only bids on auctions from this seller (jeterslove).

    The guy has bid on 2 items in 14 months....hardly overwhelming evidence of shill bidding...plus what would be the motive here...spamming? Heck, he could have just gone over to the vintage forum and solicited the card.

    No accusation was made. I simply stated that I wouldn't be surprised.

    Taking everything into consideration, along with the fact that sfrank7381 and jeterslove both reside in the Hartford area, I would not be surprised in the least.

    Not to jump on the conspiracy bandwagon, but SFrank7381 edited his post on the "Know your neighbor" thread 8 minutes ago (12/6/04 at 6:55pm) or 8 minutes after his last post to this thread and removed all of his personal information. Wonder what it said. Quack.

    Thanks for the info. About a half hour ago, I sent a PM to Stone193 which contained a link to the "Know your neighbor" thread. My PM to Stone193 also contained a quote that sfrank7381 made in that thread -- where sfrank7381 stated that he is "the sports editor for a chain of local papers based out of West Hartford".

    jeterslove location is listed as Manchester, CT -- which is within 8 miles of Hartford, CT.
