I'll be damned. Cleaning out garage yesterday and I found these coins. I mentioned this once before on here but didn't know whatever happened to em. They were in a box of gun stuff and old gunpowder containers so the environment had to be just about the worst imaginable. And in an unheated garage to boot. An OPEN top box.
I did this in 1977 and the cents are 1977 D cents. Taken from original roll and placed in the storage envelopes.
Forgive my photography as I tried manipulating the images and couldn't get a better COMPARISON than just the unaltered image.
The poly bagged ones were put TWO to a bag and there is more darkening on the parts that were facing than the sides that were in contact with the bag. The poly bag was folded twice so there was a 2 fold barrier to the elements.
The lacquered two were just in a loose manila coin bag. One per bag. The rims on the lacquered ones are both dark from where I didn't get the lacquer on or possibly managed to wipe it off when handling.
The lacquered ones are the closest to original appearance and are very bright except where the lacquer is missing.
I also tested some in 2x2's but don't know where they are.
Also found an 1875 CC dime in the box. God knows what else awaits.
