Boy I wanted this one. Too bad it's a fake.

I'd sure love to add a 91-D to my rotated die Kennedy set. I keep hoping. The coin below was a risk, as it was being sold raw on Ebay, but the risk was mitigated by buyer's protection and paypal payment. We'll see how the return works out.

Obverse 91-D circ.

Reverse (still in the seller's holder)

Here's a little problem. A seam in the rim.

The obverse was lathed, and inserted with a trimmed reverse at an angle. Seems like a bunch of trouble for such an inexpensive coin.

That could be a magic trick coin. I have one similar that's used for a trick called "Scotch and Soda". (Try Google on that). The trick comes with a plastic ring used to bang the reverse out of the coin.

If you could bang out the reverse, you might find a fake Mexican Centavo on the other side.

    edit: here's a link to one -

Why don't we flip to see who calls the meeting to order.

I have a half dollar right here.

That stinks image Rotated dies are always tough.

At the Baltimore Show today, I did see a 1981 Kennedy (business strike) with the reverse strike of a quarter actually embedded into the obverse of the Kennedy coin. ANACS thinks it's probably geniune, it's being submitted. The weight and thickness of the planchet needs to be checked. But everybody who saw it, thinks it's real.
