Here's a scary sight

I was looking through completed auctions to check the closing prices of rack packs and I came across this auction. I wasn't aware that people we're doing this, making they're own rack packs from home. That pretty much destroys the theory of rack packs being more likely authentic than wax packs. I guess I would still trust a rack pack over a wax pack, I just hope this doesn't become too widespread. Just thought I'd share it with you guys.

"The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing."

    ...I should say so.....image

  • Scary that he has perfect feedback (418)...

I was too lazy to check all his feedback, but it looks like he doesn't really do cards - he sells coins (not that there's anything wrong with that image).

I love how they are "numbered only to 24" ! image

Never ceases to amaze me the depths some sellers will sink to for a buck.

I must be missing somthing here, seems all this guy was doin was selling an entire set in a lottery type fashion. anyone with a shrink wrap machine can make rack type packs. i have seen worse attempts at set selling (lottery fasion) then what this guy has done.

please fill me in as to the transgression.
    Good for you.
  • Have to agree with Steve on this one...clever packaging != fraud.

The problem I had with this auction listing was I couldn't figure out WHAT THE HELL HE WAS TRYING TO SAY!!!

After re-reading his auction, allow me to freak out againimage

  • I don't see what the problem is. It's no different than any of these other "Buy by bag of crap for $10 and one person out of 1000 will get a beat up '68 Mantle" auctions. Nowhere on there does he say they're originals, at least as far as I can tell.
  • while i don't exactly agree with how he marketed it, i don't really see any fraud here... he clearly stated that it was an entire set that be broke down into 24 packs, and that if you purchased all 24 packs you would have a complete set, which is better than most grab-bag rip-offs
  • Of couse $20 * 24 packs is a rip off for a 1975 Topps set he claims is in nr-mt condition.
I am looking for Nolan Ryan cards, esp. OPC and rare oddball issues, graded or not. Also I need quite a few 1956 Topps, PSA 6 or higher

    Current Sets in Progress:
1956 Topps Master Set PSA 6 or better
    1978 Topps PSA 9 or 10
    1981 Donruss Golf PSA 9 or 10
    1989 Upper Deck PSA 9 or 10
    Nolan Ryan Master Set
    Pete Rose Master Set
