Megatron......what do you and the Bonds defenders think now

Ok,

All you people who have been backing up Bonds,
what's your opinion now that he took steriods to improve his
home run statistics ?

Yes, he is a hall of famer way before his steriod influenced production.

But how do you feel about his home run records now ?

Comments

  • Anyone who defended him was wearing blinders, as it was painfully obvious he did it. The funny thing is how Bonds and Sheffield admitted to 'only' using it that one year or one time. Give me a break. That is similar to what we did as kids, we would admit to the wrong doing that would get us the least amount of punihsment, knowing that nobody could prove the other stuff we did(if they even knew abou it). We had to admit to something as we knew we were caught to some degree. I trace Bond's steroid use to about four or five years of use.

I wrote those so the Bonds protectors can't say "well he did it just that one time, and his other years were done on his own merit"
  • I feel the same way about Bonds that I do about McGuire and Sosa.

Roger Maris' 61 homers looks mighty big right nowl.

So does Ruths tally .... 714

And Aaron is still the HR King

I hope Bonds finds himself unable to break the record
collecting various PSA and SGC cards

Always have and will say that I was always convinced thta he took steroids (among other things). I haven't read the report yet, but I'm convinced he took growth hormone as well. I've studied steroids for a long time and I stated from the beginning that there is no way he could have gotten that big (at that age) from "working out and eating right". It's like Hulk Hogan telling kids to "work hard, eat your vitamins, and say your prayers."

For those who say he is doing damage to his body, I am willing to bet that he is healthier than 95% of us fata$$es on this board. Steroid use can actually improve health. Steroid abuse will eventually harm you. Ih he does have probalems, I'm convinced that it will come from the growth hormone and not steroids.

Regardless, he was Hof'er before he took steroids and growth hormone and he is one now. As far as I'm convinced, he is very smart. He went to a designer shop, so the owners will go to jail. He will not. What he did is in the past and MLB will not take his records away. Plus, who really cared about Bonds before his monster seasons? Everyone wants to see him now since he's a freak everytime he comes up to the plate. He will go down as one of the best ever and deserves it. I'd much rather watch the bonds of now with his 500+ feet homeruns then the old skinny Bonds. Anyway, he's not truly cheating as I'm sure some of the pitchers take roids, too. It levels the playing field.

And before someone says that pitchers are not huge like Bonds, steroids do different things. Some make you bigger, so help you heal faster, which is what a pitcher would need.

And everyone needs to remember, steroids are not illegal. They save thousands of lives a year. The way the athlethes use them are deemed illegal. Why? Because the International Olympic Committee and not the American Medical Association wanted them banned. I'm just waiting for alcohol to be banned....afterall, it kills many more individuals than steroids, including inncoent kids every DAY!!!

One more things. I don't like Barry Bonds as a person (at least from what I've heard him say). He comes across as a racist and pompus jerk. Given that he lied about his steroid use leads me to lose what little respect I had for him already. But as a player, he's great.

Just waiting to see when they investigate that other pompus jerk - Sosa.

Not aimed at you personally - but this line of argument (read here and elsewhere) is truly the dumbest defense I've heard yet. I guess, then, it's ok for me to steal from my mom's purse if I know she steals some money from her cash register at work. Taking steroids in MLB is cheating, no matter who's doing it. Pitchers and batters alike should suffer the consequences.

The reason steroids are banned from MLB is to ensure a level playing field - to say that steroids are ok because they level the playing field is incomprehensible.

Unfortunately, what's sometimes fair is not always right. All I said is that it levels the playing field. Never said it was right.

  • But how do they level the playing field? If you have 20% of players on steroids (regardless of position), you're still left with 80% clean players - how can you say they're on a level playing field with the juiced-up minority? The only way to ensure a level playing field in to enforce the ban via real, regular testing and no-nonsense penalties for those the cheaters.

I guess I just can't see how any arrangement that includes steroid use as acceptable levels the playing field ...

    Megatron,

It seems to me that you are a wise man from your posts here.

I am a fan of Bonds, I have been since he was my size back in his Pirates day's. I will stand buy the guy because of his PERFORMANCE not who he is. I am one that believes that MLB and all of Sports involve 80% of people who have POSSIBLY done steroids, Hey I really enjoy seeing a 450 foot shot out in deep center. If Bonds was the same size he is now and has hit only 400 HR's people would not be saying much, if Jeff Bagwell or Eric Davis was aproaching the 700 plus mark on hr's people would be teeing off on them as well. The BOTTOM LINE is that he has accomplished some remarcable #'s that other guy's that are afforded the same training and legal or illegal substances could only hope to ever achieve and NEVER will because they lack the TALENT that Barry has. I will agree that players of the past that have put up #'s like Mays, Ruth, Teddy Ballgame ect.. ect.. are truly Remarkable individuals and were better PURE athletes.

Ruth probably never spent a day in the gym. That is what's remarkable.

I thought steroids were illegal? I do agree that pitchers take roids(Clemens?).I'm also suprised that you say steroids don't harm your body. What about Lyle Alzado? I only question you because I don't know much about steroids. Also, isn't HGH actually a natural steroid?
