The saga continues w/ PSA....

Tomorrow will be day 13 since I submitted my 50 card modern order IN PERSON at the show in Chicago (Nov. 20th) and it STILL hasn't been entered into the system. I called yesterday and was told that my order was in line to be entered. I was in essence told that they are in no hurry to enter the $5 special orders because there is no guaranteed turn around time. I am very dissapointed in PSA to say the least - especially the fact that my order has laid around for nearly two weeks while others are receiving their grades within several days.

Frustrated...

So you are assuming PSA is open on Sundays and also worked Thanksgiving day? I don't know if they work Saturdays, but assuming they have the entire weekend off, it has only been 7 or 8 business days since they got your cards (as most workers had not only Thanksgiving Day off, but also the Friday after Thanksgiving).
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

I'm assuming 7 or 8 business days is enough time to enter an order. Does anyone else disagree?

Tell me anything I said that would be characterized as "smart ass"?

  • Akbarclone,

Perhaps you are owed an apology on this one...............

but in fairness to gregm13..........you did use the phrase

"you are assuming", and although you probably had no intention,

the word "assuming" has some negative connotations to it because

of the phrase, "don't assume because you make an a$$ out of you and me".

From what I have heard most of the people that received their grades in about 3 business days from the time received (like I did), were the people that mailed them off on the 1st of the month right when the special came out.

As it got closer to the end of the month I am sure more and more people started submitting and they became backed up. I mailed off my first $5 sub on the 2nd or 3rd, and received the graded extremely fast, and I mailed off another one on the 30th. I don't expect the grades from the second sub. back for a couple weeks at the least.

    Greg:

Why does it really matter when it is entered if it is just going to sit around for a while until it is graded anyway? The order being entered really has no material impact on how long it will take to grade....

  • I turned in a 10 day guaranteed lot on the 21st in chicago also, and have yet to hear from them. I also turned in a PSA/DNA card with a 20 day guaranteed time and it was certified today. So what happens if PSA doesn't post my 10 day lot by friday night?

I don't think I would be so upset. I understand that you are anxious for the grades, but 13 days not counting holidays, etc, doesn't seem unreasonable. I have no idea what there load is now, but people that pay for guaranteed turnaround time are certainly going to be placed ahead of a $5 order. If you haven't received your grades in a month or two, then maybe you can start to get worried. For right now, I would suggest taht it may be better to take the attitude that $5 grading is a great deal, and be patient for the results to come back.

If others got a $5 deal done in a few days, that is great, but I wouldn't take that to mean that that willl be the standard. If you want fast turnaround, then expect to pay for it.

I would argue that it matters because the order has to be entered before it can be graded. It would bother me a great deal if I had to wait almost two weeks for the process to even begin - especially for an order I handed them at a show.

I appreciate the comments - at least most of them image I'm a little miffed w/ PSA because of the quiet chaos that I think goes on behind the scenes. Being a CPA by trade, I believe very firmly in the FIFO process - FIRST IN FIRST OUT and not last in first out, ect.... Back in August when I submitted a 45 day guaranteed order, it was graded on the 44th day even though people were posting that their order was graded within a week when they had submitted at the same service level AFTER ME. I know these people were probably the exception rather than the rule, however it still bothered me.

I know that I'm not special - and am just another small time customer for PSA. Think of this dilemna in another context - suppose you brought your car in for an oil change - and the people that came in after you were having their cars finished before they began working on yours. Now tell me how happy you'd be.

    Regards,

    Greg M.

Edited to add that I was told by the person I handed the cards to at the show that my order would be posted by Monday (Nov 29th) at the very latest.

  • When I submitted my cards at the beginning of the month, PSA never even entered them into the computer. I just got emailed stating your grades have been posted and your cards are already shipped. So the bottom line of this stotry is: Sometimes PSA doesn't even enter them as being received, they just grade them and ship them out!
Hope that makes you feel a little better.

  • I sent on 11/13, logged in 11/23 and got grades yesterday! They were closed from Thursday thru Sunday I was told when I called on a different matter. I was also told they had over 200 not logged in yet and were going to work this weekend to get caught up. Still can't beat the $$$.. Everybody is just excited to see those grades!! Hang in there, you'll have them soon.

drock, the cards were entered but emails were messed up earlier in the month. I never got my received notifications from 4 orders that were entered on the 12th. best of luck , to all. I agree it should be somewhat FIFO but it definately is just the luck of the draw. I have been drawing the long straw recently as well. also, I was told that this is a targeted 35 day service from customer service, so although not guaranteed , the goal is to not have anything excede 35 days.
  • My only problem in the lapse in time for cards being posted in the system is what would happen if there was some sort of accident (fire, earthquake, etc.) at PSA? Since the cards have not been entered into their system would they be covered by their insurance? How could PSA prove that the cards were there or not without being entered into their data base if there was a fire? I know they have fire proof safes to store cards in but do you think every card submitted is put in there? The only proof one would have is the pink copy that the submitter receives if they are submitted at a show. Submissions by mail would have no proof other than the tracking info by the shipping company that the package had been received.
