Submission Prediction--23 Coins, mostly SMS, a few Ikes **--Low Grades Posted--**

OK, at the risk of personal grading humiliation, here are grade predictions for 23 coins. My most dismal submission ever was SMS coins, so I tried to screen these well.

Submission Number: 9032809
Date Mailed: Hopefully 2 Dec 04

Lines 1 through 6 were from sets purchased on e-bay from one seller at below bid)
1 1967 SMS 50c MS67++CAM++ (good shot at 68, good shot a DCAM, 67CAM minimum)
image
2 1975-P 5c MS65FS
3 1976-P Type 1 Ike MS64+
3 1976-P Type 1 Ike MS65-
4 1976-D Type 1 Ike MS 65
5 1978-P Ike MS65+
6 1978-D Ike MS65-

Lines 7-11 are from 11 sets from another e-bay seller, purchased WELL below bid.
7 1966 SMS 1c MS67, shot CAM
8 1966 SMS 5c MS67+, slim shot CAM
9 1966 SMS 10c MS68+ (Can't see any flaws, so how about a 69??)
10 1966 SMS 25c MS67+
11 1966 SMS 50c MS67+CAM++ (Like line 1, very nice, VERY strong CAM but maybe not quite DCAM)

Lines 12-16 are from 34 sets, 25 from Northeast Numismatics at Ask, 9 from e-bay seller of 7-11 above below bid (sets got mixed together...)
12 1967 SMS 1c MS67RD- slim shot CAM...if you hold it just right...
13 1967 SMS 5c MS66+CAM+
1967 SMS 5c MS67+
1967 SMS 5c MS67-CAM++
1967 SMS 5c MS65CAM++ (If I didn't think this had a 10% chance DCAM, I wouldn't send it in)
14 1967 SMS 10c MS68 (Small chance CAM)
1967 SMS 10c MS68++ (Again, flawless appearance)
15 1967 SMS 25c MS68CAM
16 1967 SMS 50c MS67+
1967 SMS 50c MS67+
1967 SMS 50c MS67+

I'm losing positions on the 1965, 66 & 67 SMS set registry. I could upgrade with...
MS68RD or MS67RD CAM cent
MS68CAM or MS67DCAM nickel
MS68CAM or MS69 Dime
MS68 1966 quarter
MS68CAM 1967 quarter
MS68CAM 1966 half
MS67DCAM or MS68CAM 1967 half

Hopefully I get more than 1 upgrade, and other nice coins to sell.

Marty, you may put this in the HOLYLANDS!
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

    Look like some very nice coins! And I wish you well on your grades. With the time it takes for submissions the grading standards may change by the time they are actually back in your handsimage. mike

    Best of luck ... my last SMS submission was trashed. They were ridiculously tight on even granting CAM. David gave me three to four more CAMs on Presidential Review, but there were a couple there I thought should have gone DCAM.

    Maybe Dave's Presidential Review will change the grader's attitude a little bit. Nothing like getting overturned by the big boss!

    I also have some clear non-cameo coins and weak ones in the lot. Those should help the true cameos shine!

    They were tough! I think I only hit my prediction on a few coins out of the batch. 1-2 points low on most, and several missing CAMs. AND I HAVE A REAL HARD TIME WITH BEING 3 THREE 3 POINTS OFF on SMS Kennedys!!

    Brian,

    Ask anybody who has submitted SMS coins recently and they will tell you that PCGS is being stupidly tight on these right now. With the exception of a couple, you really didn't do all that bad considering the current grading environment.
