Will the Westward Journey nickel sets increase?

They're sold out now. My sets look really, really good. I've seen a few selling for a premium on eBay, but it looks like they're not currently bringing much over the original retail and some are even a shade below retail.

I personally think they'll bump up about 20% to 25% within the next 12 months. Problem is that demand has to be generated by something other than the mint, because I don't think most casual collectors even know they've been released. I believe that demand will come shortly after the holidays when gifts of the 2004 annual sets will begin to spark the desire for complete sets.

Other opinions?

Given that it's a single year issue, and the set is presented well, I have a feeling they'll hold at the least slight value above the original purchase price - an increase is debatable. With that said, I have 10 sitting in the horde which I purchased because I liked the new reverse designs.

Mine were not that great, I kept 5 and got rid of the other 5. I may have a few MS67's in the batch but nothing to write home about. They are going to get cherry picked heavily since they do not come sealed from the mint.

Actually it probably ISN'T a single year issue. I would bet we will see a similar set next year with the 2005 designs.

Most people get their proof nickels from proof sets. Now that the mint has sold out the clad sets their choices are to either buy the Westward Journey set or break up a silver proof set. My guess is that most won't want to break up silver sets. This will put pressure on the market and cause the Westward Journey sets to go up. I don't think they will go up drastically but do think they will go up a little.
