How to sell commerative gold coins?

Campers:

I have a set of 3 "Grant Wood" 1 oz gold coins, 1980, from the
American Arts Gold Medallion series; also 2 1/2 oz from the same
series. They're both in styrofoam and covered by plastic. Is this
what's meant by "mint condition"?

How do I find out how much they're worth and how do I go about selling
them? I've had them sitting in a safe deposit box for 15 years (they
were my father's) but am thinking a few payments on a new truck would
be more useful... .

Needless to say, I know absolutely nothing about gold coins or how to
market... .

Thanks for any information you can give!

sadly, these are considered to be medals, since the government never monetized them. As a result , they're not listed in the Red Book and they don't have much numismatic value above bullion value. I would suggest selling them on eBay in the Bullion category. I own this 1/2 oz coin from the series:

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. Since they're a medal, does it make sense to keep them in their original packaging. To photograph them effectively, I'd have to break the plastic covering of the sets. Would that affect thier worth to a collector or other buyer?

Could I assume to get at least the current per ounce price of gold and set that as a minimum? Or somewhat higher??

The Steinbeck (much more meaningful to me than Grant Wood) is really nice. Almost makes me want to be a collector myself.. .

    Thanks again,

    George
