Can someone post a pic that was taken with the QX-3 Scope?

Please, I'm just curious to see the quality before I go out and purchase blindly.image

When I did a search for QX-3, it came up with a child micro-scope - is this the one that takes pics like the above?
  • Yep. It's a pretty nice microscope to take digital pictures with for the price, even though the software is very cheesy.

It is an outstanding product for coin collecting especially for $50!

  • Thanks ev1 really appreciate the input, and by the way can you get a whole picture of a coin with it also? just curious it looks like it does a adequate job on the magnification. image

Is it capable of taking a picture of the whole slab?

    Not well.
  • No....I can't get a decent picture of the whole coin.

You cannot take macro pictures with the QX3, the minimum magnification is 10x. You also need to modify the bezel a bit to get it to focus on slabbed coins, otherwise the camera can't get close enough. There are several decent threads about the QX3 if you do a search (it's getting hard to find new pics to post to them all image ).

I like the Tlhoy pic the best. I have never heard of the coinscope.
Would it be possible for you, Tlhoy, to post a copper coin pic? Boy, the color and resolution of your 50X picture really look sharp.
The only thing I don't care for with the QX3 is the color it gives the coin. Especially copper.......

The QX3 makes copper look a little reddish-pink, but I'm pretty sure you can adjust it back closer to reality. I've seen some incredible QX3 pics of mint state copper coins that have terrific color. Here's another one I took of an Indian cent, this is two separate images merged together in Photoshop:

  • Search ebay. I got mine brand new in the box for $25 + shipping.
