Lincoln error. . . no rim?

I have a 1946-d Lincoln that has no rim. It is the same diameter as a Roosevelt dime, but it is copper. It is perfectly round and everything else seems to look like a normal Lincoln. Is this an error or just some post mint handy work? Sorry, but I still can't scan any photos that would show any detail. Thanks.

Post-mint handy work. People actually used to spend the time it would take to file a cent down to fit in a parking meter...as if the work they went through was worth less than nine cents.
