I reported the pop at around 185 in my ebay ads last week just to ensure no one thought it was 117 at the time (awaiting PCGS to update their report which they now have). I sold out of the (6) coins in that offering. So, it is entirely possible the pop now has climbed to 222. The rise to 185 resulted from a sizeable bulk submission, best I know. The coins I have in stock are fabulous fully brilliant specimens and, overall, very solid for the grade. Too bad there was no MS69 graded though.

I do, too, but I am still reluctant to spend $200 or more on it. I think within the next year, it will come down to the levels of the 1972S. Then again, maybe it is wishful thinking.
"When I saw your lower price Mitch I checked the pops. over the weekend and updated my spread sheet. That was ofcourse before I bought one. Joe"
Joe: I believe I shipped your coin today - you can comment on the quality of the coin when you receive it.
I personally bought a few of the MS68 1976(s) Ikes for my collections a few months ago when the price fell down to around $700 - as many of you know, the price had been well into the $1,000+ level for a very long time. I am now selling the brilliant coins I have on ebay at $439.95. If I see them being offered elsewhere at $250 or $300 as some suggest will happen, I may modify my price, but, all I have seen thus far is other coins offered for well above my current asking price.

Why would the prices on the 76S not come down like everything else does when more get made? I do not submit silver IKEs and I only own one that I bought a few years ago, and it is a 72S.
The pops. for 1972-S: ms-67...3113 ms-68...953 ms-69...7

The pops. are lower for the 1976 coin and has a larger collector base. I'm not sure why you would consider the value equal. I am looking at the price as 50% of whare it was not long ago and I have no reason to think I am not receiving a quality coin as this is all I have received from Mitch in the past. When I saw Mitches lowered price and checked the pops. I understood why the price was lowered. That struck me as a positive to Mitch for realizing the lessened value and not just putting them up with a reserve and hoping bidders did not realize the change in population. Also as a pop top coin you would not expect to have to sell to purchase an upgrade anytime soon. This is all just my opinion and if you enjoy the coin and plan on holding it price I feel is less important.
I actually looked at the pops after I posted that message and did not go back to edit my post.
I never said the 72 and 76 were of equal quality. I simply asked if the price of the 76 would come down to levels of the 72 eventually, or the 73 and 74 for that matter.
Also, I never said anything against Mitch and/or his pricing. I have bought from Mitch before and have also gotten good quality.
I understand the large pop differences, so clearly the 76 is currently worth a bit more.
Also, if you read my posts and see the emotion icons, you will see a wink and a big grin with my notation of "wishfull thinking". So, clearly, I knew the higher prices are reasonable.
As I previously mentioned, I had personally filled my slots in my sets with these coins at around $700 per. When I saw that the pop was going up from the low 100's to the very high 100's, I decided to price the coins at $439.95 per AND EXPRESSLY STATE IN MY EBAY AD 1 WEEK IN ADVANCE OF THE PCGS POP REPORT MOVING UP THE BEST (AND MUCH HIGHER) POP NUMBER I COULD COME UP WITH so no one would be dissapointed when they saw the pop report the following week.
These coins are of super quality overall. As with any large batch - a few coins are "low end" and a few coins very high end. But, the vast majority of these coins are SOLID MS68's and the coins are full white as well.
Keep in mind also - this 1976(s) is a separate type coin and the strong demand for this particular coin comes, in part, from non-Ike collectors. I recently sold at auction a 1976(p) Kennedy Half Dollar in PCGS-MS67 (with a dozen or so pop) and it sold for something like $1,800 including the buyers fee as I recall. Obviously, a pop 12 MS Kennedy Half in general is not worth anywhere near that amount of money (not even half that amount generally!), but, the 1976 MS coins have a much, much wider audience when it comes to Ikes and Kennedys I believe.
I have found one of the toughest things to do in selling top pop moderns is developing the proper "price point". There are generally folks on both side of the point, not dissimilar to creating a point spread on a game in Vegas. I see in the marketplace every day moderns being priced WAY too low and way too high IMHO. I felt 2 weeks ago the price point would become $439.95. That Teletrade coin last night sold for $440.00 once the public auction was over and the dust settled. On the other hand - even a broken clock is right 2x a day

Mitch,
You mentioned one thing I did not account for and that was the one year type.
O.K. Rampage I did not understand comparing the price levels was in jest. I was only comparing value of the two dates. And when I mentioned the quality of Mitch's coins I was only pointing out if you thought the $439 price was high at least it was for one that was properly graded. I didn't think I implied that you were slamming his goods. It's all good. If the price falls others will also and I could purchase that much more sooner.
Just using the pop figures Joeyuk posted.... An MS67 increased 34% (933 up to 1253) +320 An MS68 increased over 100% (109 up to 222) + 113 Some one has one heck of an eye!! I wish I could get one 68 for every three 67's!! Just based on the percentage increases...obviously the 68 is affected more. My guess on a 67 would be just under $50?
Mitch, I'm very happy with my coin. Looking at how free the coin is of marks makes me wonder why I sent my 67 in for possible upgrade. I'll post scans for those interested.
The thing I like about dealing with Mitch concerning the pop tops is that he is on top of the pop. numbers, in other words, he has, to the best of his knowledge, always revealed the up-to-date numbers. Often we see dealers using three month old pop reports to sell their coins, sometimes even older. ps.
<< <i>Wow! That must have been one heck of a submission. >>
Another thing I like about wondercoin's approach is his ability/desire to keep us up to date concerning large submissions.
And, congratulations on renaming your ALL-TIME #1 Ike Dollar Proof Collection. I do not believe I have been offered a PR70DC Ike (nor has a fresh coin been slabbed at PCGS) since the time you purchased the collection. The sheer size of that coin makes true PR70DC specimens very scarce indeed IMHO.

I recently purchased a 1976 S MS68 from Wondercoin. This price drop was the only way I was able to purchase such a coin for my Regstry Set. I cannot wait to see the coin in hand.

me wonder why I sent my 67 in for possible upgrade. I'll post scans for those interested.
Your scan does not capture the luster of the coin, but, it certainly captures the mark-free surfaces.
As I previously mentioned, the coins, overall, were "all there". If anyone wants information about the remaining available coins, just PM me.
