U.S. Stamp Pricing - Question

Greetings Stamp Forum Members!!!

My question is -- is there a stamp pricing letter or book comparable to the Coin Dealer Newsletter (greysheet)? I've been out of stamps for over 10 years and do not know what are now commonly accepted guides for fair (not "retail") prices. Does such a price guide exist, or do dealers/collectors typically use a percentage of the retail prices (i.e. Brookman, Linn's, etc.). Thanks for your help. image

Welcome to the stamp forum. I do not know of a stamp equivalent to the greysheet, but in my experience, most dealers will pay about 1/3 of Scott value if they are buying; more for better/rarer copies just as in coins; less for damaged, faulty or badly centered issues. They will usually sell at 1/2 or more of Scott. In XF/Superb copies, expect to pay more than Scott. This applies to early issues. Modern stuff, you are lucky if you can get face for it. There is a blackbook for stamps, but I never met anyone who used it.
