In an otherwise great looking coin, there is a flaw on Jeff's cheek. It looks like a pit with metal at the bottom. It does not appear to be a dent, but rather a cavern. Is this a planchent flaw? How will this affect grading? Thanks in advance.

How's this?

I can't tell what that is. It almost looks like a carbon spot to me, but if you say it is a cavern then I'll assume it is. It is a bit distracting to see a dark area in the primary area of focus...
Carl, I took another look and it is definitely a void or depression. I can't tell if it also has carbon in the hole. It almost looks like a fracture line or dislocation typical in metal, but I will need to check to see how nickel alloy behaves. The reverse almost looks cameo and is super. I agree that the defect couldn't be in a worse place.
It is unusual since I see these more often on the jaw instead of in a recessed area.
