Buying Coins by the Roll!!!!!

When selling by the rolls why do the buyers/bidders ask "are the 2 ends heads or tails,or is one end heads and the other tails"?What is the Logic behind it?

I suspect the logic is simple. The date is always on the obverse, thus you would want to confirm the date. Mintmark location varies. On Lincolns, they are always on the obverse, but other denominations they can be on either side. So, depending on the date and denomination, a buyer would want to know if the mintmark can be seen to confirm what they are buying.

Maybe there are other reasons as well. (Like being able to tell the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 mintmarks and designs).
