Yes it will grade G-4 minimum. Your allowed to have some rim blending in Good.
  • Thanks I thought the rim blending would pass for G4 I was more concerned with the rim hits at 1:00 and 6:30 would this be called rim damage.

$50? At that price I would buy every single one that you could get your hands on!! Please!! image

At the very least, I believe that coin is worth 3X that price.

G-4 at least, very close to VG.

  • image I like the way you think Becky. It's not for sale just curious as to what approx. value it would have with the rim hits and being as worn as it is.

Is it the picture, or does this coin look cleaned? Or does it even matter in Good?

My experience in buying old silver with this appearance is that the seller does not say it is cleaned (even when asked specifically), but buyers offer a low price saying the same coin has been cleaned. All part of the game, I guess.

Same here, Id drain every bit of cash capital and then some to buy 89-cc at 50.00 bucks, then flip in less than an 1hr.

VG bid ask is 460/500. If this coin were tpg'd I can see it fetching 300-350 easily?
  • I don't know if it matters if its cleaned in good or not. I my opinion I would say its been cleaned sometime in its past ,I have had it for more than 30 years so it would of had to been before that.

  • Almost VG? Talk about gradeflation!

Good-4 for sure, and it looks cleaned. I agree with $300 value estimate.
    When in doubt, don't.

  • Mine seems to have a little more detail, enough to move it to G4 not sure.

    Thanks Larry

Probably G4. My PCGS AG03 is a lot more worn than that. The photos below are from when it was raw.

Oh, I like this. "This was the first one I sent" This is starting to look more like a mini hoard. Keep them coming!! I have one more to add, then unfortunately I'm done. But my dealer told me the other day he has a roll coming inimage

  • Lets see the Cameron Kiefer grade was AG-3 which makes it ar least a G-6! Seriously the coin has been washed which hurts it, but if you stick it in the sun for a few months it will get some color back to look nicer. NO I don't mean AT, it's a low grade coin and it will help with seeing the worn details. I have one with same wear (dark) in an NGC G-4 holder and a dealer offered me $375 for it. They go for $425 to $550 at Heritage.

  • The thing is I don't think it would get a G-04 grade at NGC or PCGS. The cleaning bumps it down. ANACS would say Good details net AG-03.

  • Can I add mine to the parade of 1889-CC coming out tonight? image

  • C.K.----I was pulling your leg Cameron because I was up all night fighting to not only prove a fake 1895 was fake, but searching to find out the dies that the fake Morgan started as (see pages 8,9,10, on the 1895 Proof debate). You actually have sense of humer but sorry if you took the joke wrong. It's probably a no grade if there are lots of non random hairlines. The AG cut-off I've found is the definition along the edge of Liberty's face, and if the rims merge to the letters on the reverse. My 1889CC went to NGC because it is very rare to find a dark, undipped, original and unrimdinged (a word?) example. They probably kicked it up to G-4 for condition. By the way your write up on slabs was very lucid and I enjoyed reading it.

  • Very nice jeffimage I'm not sure but I think acetone would remove the green I'm sure someone here would know for sure.
"Freedom of speech is a great thing.Just because you can say anything does not mean you should.
  • Thanks! I'm not sure there is any green on this coin. The coin is actually a bit darker than what this image would indicate, particularly on the obverse. There is quite a bit of luster still in the peripherial areas but I have a hard time trying to capture it in the image. Actually, I just bought some acetone on Wednesday for another coin I have that had a clump of crud on it. I'm kind of leary to try and mess with this coin because, as you can guess, I have quite a bit tied up in it and I would hate to do something stupid with it. image

  • Nice one Jeff. Soak it for a few minutes in acetone just to make sure theres no PVC or other harmful stuff. Rince in lots of water to in case there's anything else water soluable that will hurt also. image
