Sweden 1950 Proof Set

I received the 1950 Sweden Proof Set today. The coins definately look proof to me. Especially the silver coins. They are either proof or very early struck coins. I made a quick scan of the 2 Kr. coin. The coin is graded PF64 by PCGS.

I also have one of the proof 2 Kr. I haven't been able to figure out how rare it is, other than that I now know it's not unique. image

Is your certified? Do you have the other denominations? I too am trying to figure out how rare the proofs are.

hmmm . . . I see NGC has slabed two of them. One PF64 and the other PF65.

That's the one. I don't have other denominations. BTW, I haven't seen enough of the uncs to know if our alleged "proofs" really are anything special. Have you?

I received this email today from Krause:

<< <i>Just a note to tell you that Sweden did not make any proof cins or sets in 1950. What you may have are the first coins struck that year and given to some official. First strikes often are mistaken for proof coins. Regards, Fred J Borgmann >>

That's great Mike. But really, what is the reliability to PCGS on this, if any? I would think they would just say it is a clerical error and return the coins to be graded as MS. How can one tell the age of a PCGS holder? I would like to know when these coins were graded.
