Capped half dime - variety help needed - pictures posted

For all of those capped bust half dime experts, I am looking for variety / rarity for an 1835 large date, small 5 half dime. How many varieties are there and are there any distinguishing characteristics that can be easily described? I will try to post pictures in the next day or two. I have a first gen NGC MS63 that was a Garrett piece.

  • There are only two 1835 Die marriages that are Large Date and Small 5c. They have the same reverse, and both have a Fancy 8 on the Obverse... the most noticable difference, is if S9 is rotated CW or CCW... either way, it's no better than an R3... pictures would be nice to confirm what marriage it is image Give me a PM when you post pictures image

Pictures are up. Thanks for the input.
  • Looks to be LM-5.1, an R3... doesn't have any of the die cracks that would signify it as having been the remarriage...

Up close and personal, I'm not seeing any die cracks. It doesn't show as clearly on these cruddy photos, but it looks like there is a recut or something on the "5" in "5C". Is that common?
