I have never been to a White Hot coin show...

The ones I go to are all a bunch of bored guys (and a few gals) sitting around at tables while a bunch of other unexcited guys (and fewer gals) browse the bourse, occasionally offering to sell or buy coins. The biggest excitement I get to see is when the Jade boys tweak the ANACS graders with stumpers. Is a coin show like the Chicago Mercantile exchange at 8:30 AM with all of the traders yelling at once, clawing at each other to get pork bellies (or whatever)? What am I missing?

No...but it's certainly an electric atmosphere. FUN is a great show...you should go. By the way, I TRADED pork bellies in the pit for 6 years!! It was unbelievable! (they open at 9:10, not 8:30)

Well, I would define White Hot as a show where I go to several dealer's tables, see coins I like, decide to think about it, go back for a coin ten or 15 minutes later, only to find that they've sold the coin. While I've had that happen once or twice, I've never had it happen several times at one show, not even at last year's ANA (where all the coins I looked at on the first day were still there on the afternoon of the second day).

Nowadays, though, the shows I go to aren't full of bored people, they're full of busy people, instead.

You can judge a show by how much space is left between tables after the show has started.

I got bumped into a few times today by people trying to squeeze in between people standing in line looking at coins.

These two older guys had me laughing twice today. Both times I was at a table looking at morgans and somehow they got in front of me with their want list and would fly though the coins trying to find something on their list. I didn't mind because they didn't stay long and it cracked me up how intense they were looking.
