I found this years ago and just rediscovered it.
This is an SMS coin and has an extreme machine doubling to the WNW. This doubling is about
half the width of the date numerals. Then it gets strange. The sixes have secondary images
to the SE. These images appear to have been on the die.
The strangest thing is that the 9 and both 6's have a very prominent extra part on them. It pro-
jects between the loop of the numbers and the stem.
Does anyone have any guesses about this or seen it before?

I'm looking at a 1967 SMS Quarter with clear doubling.
All the numbers in the date show doubling to the SSE. The tip of the 7 is doubled, so I don't think it is machine doubling. Also visible on all of LIBERTY and IGWT. I might see it below the chin, but my eyes are getting tired!
