I just bought a small collection which included a handful of ugly looking wheat pennies. As you can see they are dirty and ugly. I paid a whopping 3c each for them and I was going to throw them in the bucket with the rest of the common wheats.
When I went to throw them in I noticed that they looked like they were higher grade. Oh what the hell, I'll try and see if they clean up. Well using a little Blue Ribbon (the old stuff with the Trichlorlethane which is bad for you) I coated a Q tip and lightly coated the coin then wiped it with the dry end and wow. The darn things were BU just coated in crap. I never thought it would come off either. Now I got nearly a full roll of these 1929 D Lincolns in BU (mostly RB).
This pic is of the exact same two coins above after being cleaned up:
I know, now you're going to give me a hard time for ripping off an old lady, but if I had known I certainly would have paid a lot more for these ugly coins.

I agree with you Cameron.
The nice thing about the conservation of these, it vastly improved the coin and most will still slab as either AU58 or MS grades.

Acetone turns Copper weird colors... according to coppercoins, the only thing he's found to be safe for the color of copper coins, is Goo-Gone...
