Ebay auction: "These coins are from my personal collection."

Whenever I read that line in an ebay listing, my first reaction is "baloney" (or at least a synonym). It's right up there with "unsearched", "estate sale", and other ebay rip-off lines. There are some cases, I believe, in which it is true. I have used that line before when selling duplicates or coins I no longer need or care for.

Check out this listing for an 1876 PCGS-53 half dollar and look what else is from his "personal collection".

My own personal selling exprience on EBAY is keep it simple, honest description, good pix, reasonable shiping...............the rest them can all go to H**L..........does anyone remember common sense....................My opinion..............Rick.... Even if the coin was from my personal collection...........who cares if that is in the description.........

IMO, it makes him less credible as a coin seller. I make every effort to run my adult video auctions at a different time from my coin auctions.

I would never part with my personal collection. And, I wouldn't want to touch this guy's coins without plastic gloves on either!!

I do use the 'from my personal collection' in EBay -- when I sell coins that were from my set as I upgraded my collection. These coins were selected individually and not purchased 'wholesale'. I think the market line has value as it implies that care and consideration was used and may be high in grade. It has added value when it is true.

I can not afford to keep every coin that I bought for my personal collection, although I wish I could. Suggest that considering the source is important on Ebay or elsewhere.

Agree that some people use it as a 'line'.

If others feel the same way you do,(thats its a BS statement) then I too, will have to stop stating that. On occasion if I find an upgrade, or decide to sell a coin from my "personal collection" I always state that in the descrition on E-bay. I merely do that to indicate that it isnt a coin that has been on the market traded over and over and is a fresh piece, of the utmost quality in most instances.

.............and it makes sense that any non- dealer collector is selling a coin from his personal collection anytime he sells one. no problem, just a pet-peeve, but i can appreciate those.

as for Ms. Diaz, i guess i 'm in the minority when i look at her as just another cute, untalented and undernourished wannabe actress.
