Julius Jones... Happy Thanksgiving

Looks like we have the real deal in dallas now. Maybe bill wasnt so dumb after all trading the pick for a 1st rounder and taking jones. 150 yards 2 td's cowboys win 21-7!

Happy thanksgiving to all you guys even eagles fans image !

  • I distinctevly remember someone on this board saying he didn't have break away speed. Not sure if he was watching the same guy. He has both the moves and the speed. Yes it was against the Bears but the guy looked good for only his 2nd NFL game

Henson on the other hand looked unsure at times with all the blitzes

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their Families ! !

Yes Henson didnt read defense at all. I trust in Bill looks like he was right henson not ready. But im excited about jones, i thought we would have to draft a running back. looks like we can go after rolle cb from miami. and maybe a big time wr as mike williams. long shot but would be nice if it happened.

4-7 record if giants lose to the eagles and rams lose to packers laugh all you want dallas will only be one game back. to bad jones wasnt healthy all year. i know were not a playoff team but the nfc just plain s@cks this year. eagles overrated!! falcons well they have mr. incredible he gets hurt they go down.

    With that said ...

You guys beat da Bears. Whoopee.

Julius Jones looked good. I like him. Henson is a stiff, Parcells is lost, and the Cowboys still stink.

If the Eagles beat the G-Men???? It is gonna be a whoopin ...

Mr. Incredible (Vick)?? Mr. Overated can't read a defense is more like it.

Your boy Jones better be real good because it looks obvious that your other boy Henson just can't play. Henson looks like another Jerry Jones turkey!

But in any event, I sincerely mean this...Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!
  • kuhlmann, I had a feeling the 'Boys would win big today, but my Detroit +10 pick made me look like a turkey image

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their families!

If you can tell a guy obviously can't play after 1 half of football when he hasn't started a game in over 4 years then you my friend should be a quarterback coach at your nearest university or something.

After witnesing Aikman's major struggles his rookie season and watching him develop im willing to give Henson more than a half of football before i make judgement on the guy. He's got 1 TD and 1 pick so far in his long tenure as Cowboy QB, lets give the guy a chance

Comparing Troy Aikman to Drew Henson? That's funny! It's obvious to everyone but Jerry Jones and a few others that Henson is a backup quarterback at best. Aikman had a thing called "talent" which Henson doesn't have enough of to be a winning starting quarterback in the NFL. You don't have to be a quarterback coach to see this.

  • Ya, i guess you know more than many of the scouts that had Henson as the #1 rated QB coming out of college .

It's amazing how he would've been drafted so high with no " talent "

It is very difficult to predict if a quarterback will succeed in the NFL while he is in college. You know that! Scouting reports are a guideline only. You also know that! Once a quarterback is on NFL practice fields, and then in the games, then you do know. I have seen hundreds of rookie quarterbacks play. The ones who are successful in the NFL, they make rookie mistakes but they display talent. I didn't see any talent with Drew Henson. I'm not saying he's on the same level as a Ryan Leaf, but Henson will never be a winning starting quarterback. I watched Eli Manning play in his first start - you could see the big differences in talent between him and Henson - it's not even close. Start watching the nuances of the games more closely and maybe you'll learn how to evaluate things like this, instead of regurgitating old scouting reports.
  • Dude, if Eli Manning hadn't played the game consistently in 4 years do you think he'd be a bit rusty ?

BTW, what were you thinking when Henson took the team on an 80 yard drive where he went 6-6 and threw a td ?

" nuances of the game " LMAO . You definetly are a character bro.

I just have a strong feeling that if Henson was on any other team but the Cowboys that you'd give the guy a little more than a half of football before you make your final decision on him as a player

<<< BTW, what were you thinking when Henson took the team on an 80 yard drive where he went 6-6 and threw a td ? >>>

That was during trash time at the end of a blowout game - absolutely meaningless - you should know that if you really understood the game of football. From your Lakers icon and Kobe name, you are probably more of a basketball fan and understand the game of basketball. You have a ways to go before fully understanding the game of football.

<<< I just have a strong feeling that if Henson was on any other team but the Cowboys that you'd give the guy a little more than a half of football before you make your final decision on him as a player >>>

You are totally wrong - I have said the exact same thing about some Eagles quarterbacks of the past.

  • I know the difference between the 2 smart ass but you act like it was a preseason game with their 3rd string defense in

<< You are totally wrong - I have said the exact same thing about some Eagles quarterbacks of the past. >>

    Umm ok sure

Tell me one Eagle Qb of the past that was scouted very high coming out of college that you gave exactly 1 half and one drive of football before you labled the guy a bust ?

I said Eagles quarterbacks not draft picks. As for draft picks, in the 80's an Eagles high first round pick was a tackle Kevin Allen who couldn't even get through practices. He was an obvious bust even before the preseason. Everybody in Philly including Buddy Ryan knew it. Unfortunately, the Eagles in the past sometimes used to sign in the off season some washed up quarterbacks who couldn't play. They couldn't even play in the preseason let alone the regular season. My opinion is Henson can't play or at best should be a backup in the NFL. And you know what, fellow smartass, I hope Henson stays with the Cowboys and is their starter for the next ten or more years assuring the Cowboys perennial losing seasons - this would make things a little easier for the Eagles to win each year.

    >Once a quarterback is on NFL practice fields, and then in the games, then you do know.

It must be wonderful to be so talented. You need to quit your day job right now. I'm sure you could make
millions in the NFL as a scout.

Every expert I've heard usually says you need 2 or 3 years to know whether a guy will turn out to be a decent QB.

But then opinions are like a-holes.

Khayse - You're right, everybody has one. Opinions are what makes sports talk fun. I'll stand by my opinion of Drew Henson. We'll see in the future whose opinion winds up being correct.

I said he doesn't have breakaway speed, at least at the level of the top flight NFL backs. I watched him for 5 years in college. One good game, followed by a dog game and yes getting tackled from behind. One good game against a very bad team. I also said he is brittle. So here he is 10 games or 11 games into the season he has played in what, two games? One game does not a career make. I'd love to see him do very well in Dallas, but his history so far has not indicated that he will. I suppose I could be like some of the rest of you and bet on come all the time rather than report facts.

Stay tuned he will get injured time and time again, will fumble, will frustrate you, unless suddenly he turns into the runner they kept predicting at ND but never managed to become. This all sounds like deja vu all over again, as I heard this from my buddies for 5 years at ND.
  • Eli Manning

    6/21 0 TD and 2 Int . The guys a bum and a bust . And he's had 2 full games to show what he has . ( rolls eyes ) .

Takes longer than a half of football or a couple games in the NFL to get used to the speed of the defenses. Now just imagine a qb that hasn't played in 4 years trying to adjust to NFL defenses and the different schemes

P.S Whether the guy makes it as a Qb in the league or not was never really the point i was trying to make , but giving him the necessary time just about any Qb needs is the point i was trying to get across

IrishMike, is he one of the top 3 fastest backs in the league ? Probablly not, but that dosen't mean he dosen't have " breakaway speed " . He sure looked quick enough to me.

<< One game does not a career make.>>

True, but the guy has showed in the last couple games that he can handle major carries in the game, in fact he just got stronger as the game went on in the Bear game. From what i saw earlier on in the Pre-season and the last couple weeks i think he could have a very nice career
  • kuhlmannkuhlmann Posts: 3,326 ✭✭
Julius Jones looked like he can handle the load. Time will tell. Time will also tell with Henson. he didnt look good in that half. I agree with Kobe he needs more time before i call him a bust.

Eli looked like crap against a real bad defense!
