And your name can be SQUISHY!

In 1966 someone got the bright idea to change the Pope's coinage and feature his likeness on the coins. Well - in his first year they did a pretty good job, but this year E. Greco Monassi, Inc., the outfit that I guess was in charge of the design changes, kinda got the pope confused with Mr. Magoo (I'll probably burn in hell for this). In addition - if you look at the Pope at just the right angle and distance, it looks like he's got rabbit ears on his head. Needless to say, this became a one year type. The silver 500L is struck very nicely with an almost prooflike surface and cameo features. The nickel pieces (100L and 50L) are hideous, very weak low relief strikes, the other coins (aluminium and copper) look nice, as long as you can keep from chuckling at the Pope's image image This was a present from my best good friend Tassa - and I'm really enjoying it - I hope you do too image
