Jade Rare Coin: 1871-CC Quarter & Dime (UPDATE: Quarter SOLD, Dime still available)

I prepared a couple of newps to be listed on our web site tonight, but the boss suggested that I run these through the BST before uploading to the web site. Both coins are rare, but the 1871-CC Quarter is nearly impossible to find these days. It is considered now to be the key to the entire series. The 1871-CC Dime is also very difficult to locate in any grade. The price guides are laughable on these two rarities as there are not enough of either bought/sold in a year to establish a market (jmho). Thanks, Dennis

UPDATE: At dealer set-up for the Michigan State Show in Dearborn, the quarter was sold to a prominent dealer of Seated Liberty coins. The dime is still available.

I no longer feel comfortable paying the freight for 70cc and 71cc quarters. But sign me up for some nice 42-0 SD and
72-s quarters at a fraction of the price of the highly sought after low mintage CC's.

Whether they ever catch up remains to be seen, but they are as rare if not rarer than the publicized CC's. It's an event with CC's trade hands but the other 2 dates fall under the radar a lot. IMHO
the 72-s is the rarest mint marked 25c behind the 73-cc NA.
