Every once and a while I take my son in there and we buy about $200- in halfs. We have picked up some interesting stuff over the years. About 3-4 Franklins, 1 Walker, and in one lot we got 3 rolls of 40% silver Kennedy halfs and 1 roll of 90% (64 Kennedys).
There's a lot of cute bank tellers. I often think about getting lucky when I go to the bank. But to be of more help in answering your question, I have found some nice ones in circulated cents from the bank. Mostly Wide AM's, but I have found (2) Jailhouse Lincolns, a 100% non-copper cent, a few cents with repunched mintmarks and a few really nice quality cents from new penny bank wrapped rolls. I find Charles Daughtrey's (coppercoins) book, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents" and also The Cherrypickers' Guide by Fivaz & Stanton to be very helpful.

I only get the Kennedys. YES, I too have got MANY 90% silver coins. I have ROLLS of 40% coins, 2 rolls of 64 Kennedys, almost 2 rolls of Frankies, a whole roll of walkers. One time, we found 5 walkers, 3 Frankies and a 64 Kennedy in a single roll. The original owner must have died and the family cashed it in. As a former Hospice volunteer, I have been offered a lot of coins/coin collections after a person dies or while they are in the proces of dying. I haven't taken/bought a single coin. I've always told the families where to go to get fair orrfers on thier coins to include some auction houses for some collections. I have tried to avoid all this "cashing in" of coins by people who don't know better. I can't take any coins because I don't think it's right to take advantage of the families. I know of some people that do this kind of work SREIFICALLY to get things, like houses and belongings. Here's my plug: Please donate to your local NON-PROFIT Hospice. They take care of ALL the patient/family needs in their most crucial times. Ray

I get $10 worth of nickels about every week. About 1% are pre-1962. Two weeks ago I got a pretty beat up 1935-D buffalo nickel.
I often get $40 in halves. Rarely do I get anything silver. I do often get 1996-D, 1999-D or 2000-D uncirculated halves which I pull out the nicer ones and keep. Over the years I've gotten 52 1964 Kennedies and 178 of the 40% silver Kennedies. One lone 1962 Franklin that I still think might be a circulated proof. I might have better luck going to a bank downtown or in the older section of the city but it's out of my way and hard to get there with my work schedule. In about 13 years I've only gone through $3,500 in halves, but I do make it a point to spend every one I don't keep.
I found $200 in uncirculated Kennedy's at the bank. Someone must have cashed the collection at the bank. In the rolls were:
- one Franklin - one roll of 1967 - one roll of 1966 - a circulated proof that had my heart beating for a second until I saw the mint mark - lots of 1978+ rolls
I traded $100 of the 1978+ rolls plus two proof sets for a 3.5 foot long piece of petrified wood. The thing weighs about 100 pounds. I am getting it carbon dated and wood type determined. The theory is the it was part of the ballast in one of the Jamestown settlement ships.
Sorry if this thread is a little off the coin focus, but it is interesting what people will trade for coins.

Whenever I'm vacationing in Vegas or AC I buy several hundred in rolls of halves. Always find some 40% and a few 90%. Rest I just cash out (I play poker, not slots)

I wasn't thinking like that. But if you make money it might.
