Looks like someone turned a 28 into a 23. I looked at some of the pictures in registry sets, and the top of the three should be flat, not rounded.

Not only should the top of the three be straight, but the right stroke of the three should be a slanted staight line, going from right to left. Definitly not the real deal.

The picture of the date that the seller added at the bottom is not the same coin.

That's weird, continue to scroll down and there is a whole different pic of the date and it looks like the correct type.

Someone is mixing pics on this one.

Can you see S (the mint mark) in the photo image
Definitely, it is not a 1923-S.

Just noticed that as well. It doesn't appear to have a mint mark.

Yes, but he did appologize for "scamming", so he is a nice scam artist.
  • Good, keep reporting this one to Ebay. This is much more tangible than the AT crud, so the EBay / ANA coinwatch should be able to suspend this seller. We will see!!

Thought I would bring this one back to the top. This guy has another fake 23S listed. Even more obvious than the first.

  • I'm by far no expert on coins- but the ones listed by this clown appear to be altered 28's or 29's, whoever had the soldering iron did a he(( of a semi good job- a 23 is flat- I have 2, but they are junk in my eyes. EBAY POLICE- he is a fraud!!!!! image

I received a reply to my comment about this 23S. Here it is from the 2centsin organization.

You may be right but we already consulted with a coin expert as to the authenticity of this coin and there seems to be no problems as far as he is concern. I do not know if you have seen the pictures that we have uploaded but if you did perhaps our expert made an error. If that is the case I pity the people who had their coins slab by his company and there is a lot of them after all it is the highest regarded service around.

I sent a reply stating that in my opinion, there is no way PCGS slabbed that coin. Maybe they were referring to P.C.G.S.
