Morgan VAM before and after dip pixs

I bought these coins because they're tough-to-find VAMs I needed. I planned from the get-go to break them out and send them to PCGS, and since I hated the way the toning limited the lustre and eye appeal they each got a quick dip as soon as they were out of their old holders. Here are the before and after scans; I'm really pleased with how they turned out, because I like white Morgans image

When in doubt, don't.

    Dennis,

Good job on the dip. I have always been too scared to dip a coin in fear of messing it up. You have done a good job, though.

    Congrats on the crosses.

    Richard.

Can you give detailed info on your dipping process?...please
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

I like the original surface myself, but that's just a personal preference.
  • Crossed at the same grades but now you've lost the documented VAM's and the "originality."

Is that really considered a "good" thing ?? image

I could understand if they up-graded, or if they were originally in one of the lower TPG slabs, but from NGC to PCGS at the same grade ??

    I don't see the benefits ??

VAMs are always worth more in PCGS Holders.

Edited to add: White coins will sometimes upgrade in my experience because they bring out the luster.
