Does this deserve a neutral??

I have received 3 messages in less than 2 weeks from auction end from a seller begging for feedback. Here is the third one I received:

<< <i>Hello sir, you of all people should know how much feedback means to the E-Bay community. I have asked you several time to leave me feedback as I have already done for you. You have not left me feedback or responded to my e-mail. The auction has ended now for 12 days. Please leave me feedback. Thank you!!! >>

The cards received were not mint as advertised, however, they were nice and were what I was expecting. Would you leave a neutral feedback over the seller being such a pest??

I don't understand. If you got what you were expecting, as you stated, why are you jerking him around ? Leave him positive feedback.

  • I'm not jerking him around. I feel he's being a pest. Also, I hadn't even opened the package when I received the first two emails. I just opened opened it over the weekend which is also when I received the third email (remember, it's been only 12 days since auction end). So, yes, the cards I received are what I expected, however, I'm not happy that he's pestering me.

  • I leave feedback after receiving feedback/email from buyer letting me know that item arrived and sale is complete. If I do not hear from the buyer I leave feedback 2-3 weeks after shipping because they have not notified me of a problem and sale is considered complete without problems. I find it rude to ask for feedback and if I do not receive it, that is the buyers choice. But I do not like seeing buyers bid on my auction that have positive feedback but have not left a single item of feedback for other ebayers. The system does not work if people do not leave feedback for transactions. I would not leave a neutral, just leave none at all and email him that begging for feedback just got him none if you feel that strongly about it.

What people forget is that feedback is completely optional. I've left over 200 more feedbacks than I've received, and I'm not out there whining for it. While I wouldn't give him a neutral for being a pest, I wouldn't let him badger me into leaving him a feedback before I got around to it in my own time. But that doesn't mean you can't put "more whining about feedback than an amateur concert" in your note.

I think the feedback system is a joke for the most part actually. Many people are too scared of leaving negatives in fear of retaliation, so many people are willing to basically shut up and take it, as far as getting cards that were in slightly worse shape than described, or having to wait forever to receive an item, etc. Some sellers purposely wait to leave feedback until well after the sale is complete to make sure they won't wind up with a neg that they can't retaliate, which is silly. If you're going to get a negative, who cares if the guy who bought from you gets one also, it won't change the fact that you got one. Negatives and neutrals are easy to avoid simply by handling things properly, describing the item exactly how it is, and not charging outrageous shipping fees (which I noticed often leads to neutrals). A seller should be the one who initiates feedback, a positive should be left immediately after receipt of payment, as the buyer has done all you will ever be asking of them. If a buyer leaves feedback or not, who cares... I never ask for it, but if you sell enough, eventually people will leave feedback, and it's not like it's a contest to see who can get it the highest or anything.

I have never left anything than positive or no feedback. As bad as a couple of my dealings have been, they have all been worked out to the point that I didn't wind up losing any money, apologies were given to me, and that was the end of it. I would only leave a negative in a blatent situation, such as a non-paying bidder after two months of trying to get them to pay.

Leave the guy a positive feedback, who cares that's he's nagging you for it. He's fulfilled his end of the contract, you're satisfied.

You seem like an ebay veteran. Since when does an ungraded ebay card advertised as mint ever get a PSA 9 or 10? How about virtually never. You got what you expected so despite his whining, just leave him some positive feedback and forget about it.

Why not give him a nuetral? This may teach him a lesson. As previously mentioned, feedback is optional. Giving him a nuetral may make him aware of the fact that he is bugging people. I don't keep track of who leaves feedback and who doesn't. If I have a nice transaction, then I will leave positive. I also do not hesitate to leave nuetrals. I make it a point to leave a nuetral for excessive shipping and handling fees.

the seller SHOULDN'T be whining about it.. BUT, this is why alot of sellers wait until feedback is received before leaving feedback.. you GOT what you EXPECTED, yet you still contemplate leaving something other than a positive feedback.. (i agree, in this case, that the seller is a pest.. i never email sellers OR buyers to ask for feedback) (and being a pest can cause a transaction to NOT be a positive one, whether the pest is a buyer or seller)

thats not the point.. the point is NOT that the seller wants to give a neg, but if the seller hasnt left feedback, it MIGHT cause the buyer to LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE with the seller if they're unhappy, rather than automatically leaving a negative.. my guess is that most of the buyers who constantly worry and b!tÇh about feedback, have never sold much on ebay and therefore have not had to deal with INSANE buyers after a transaction is supposedly complete..

also, as Dontippet said, I dont have time to keep track of who has left me feedback and who hasnt.. as a buyer, i always immediately leave feedback when i receive an item, whether the seller has left feedback or not..

  • Leave the positive. Card you received was as advertised and apparently you got what you wanted.
Maybe he's just trying to establish feedback (is his feedback low?) and doesn't know any better than
to be a bit pesty. I think after the first email you received, you should of just responded that you haven't
received it yet and will do so (feedback) once it arrives. Communication?

That seems to be SOP for ebay and as you said, you got what you expected - I would infer from that info that you bid accordingly.
Let me think?....hmmmm......I would have his legs broken!

If you are happy with the cards, then leave positive. Also, write an email stating that you did not appreciate his pestering this early in the transaction. You are going to be dealing with a lot of personality types on ebay, so if the product was good and the shipping fast enough for you, give feedback accordingly. I take the pestering any day as opposed to product not as described and not get any help from the seller to rectify it.

  • Sounds a lot like someone asking for a thank you card after giving you a so-so gift ... kinda tacky.
  • I think you should leave him a positive feedback because the transaction was successful and you are satisfied with your cards. However, you could always send him an email suggesting he review his grading standards and how he pursues asking for feedback. I hope that suggestion doesn't seem too naive and simple. I am sure you will handle it in the proper fashion.

Some people really like the feedback positives, like an 'atta boy' or 'good job' compliment at work.

You got what you wanted and expected, and yeah, he's been kind of a pest about it, but why string him out? I'd leave him a positive, then email him and tell him that the repeated emails asking for your feedback is seen in poor taste.

Don't punish the guy for being eager and for delivering a product as advertised to 'teach him a lesson'.

  • That email looks like the email templates used for automation in Selling Manager Pro. I signed up for the month trial and ran into the same problem sending emails to buyers on a automated schedule for feedback, buying reminders, payments recieved, etc.... You could politely send him an email and let him know that it is annoying getting that many emails. Did you even email the seller and tell him/her that you were not 100% satisfied.

For God Sakes why not leave him feedback if you got what you expected? He left you a feedback correct?
