Is there anything that will restore the date on a morgan dollar ? Thanks

I tried nic-a-date on a dateless standing liberty quarter one time. All it did was turn the silver dark.

I have one that the date area is completely smooth on,on the reverse the s mint mark is still visable,is this a P-00

No such thing as a PO-00... PO-01 needs to be identifiable, whether with a date, a one-year type where some characteristic is still visible (like a chain in a chain cent), or some other diagnostic that is date-specific.

Years ago there was a date restorer for silver coins (Standing Liberty quarters) that was sold in a small bottle like the nickel restorer. I haven't seen it for 30 years or more, tho.

I don't think nic-a-date would work for silver coins. From what I understand, it works on nickel because of the hardness changes of the nickel where the date is. Silver, being much softer, may not have the characteristics necessary to acid etch away to a date.

I too have tried nic-a-date on an SLQ just for kicks. It was not effective at raising the date and did indeed leave a black spot .
