Opinion on toned morgan

I just picked this toned 1881-O Morgan dollar up the other day. Is this type of toning desirable? Would this be considered crescent toned? I only paid $40 for it and was wondering if I did ok. Thanks in advance.

  • Not the best picture, but it looks NT to me. I'd say it might be worth a small premium to the right person. The coin looks like an MS63 maybe a MS64 max from what I can see and you probably could have picked one up certified for $40 bucks or in that ball park. Doesn't mater though if you like the coin...I think it's attractive, I just look for a little more toning on the coins I purchase image

That's a natural crescent--follow the light pink band that goes through the M in unum to the star. Another dollar will fit in everything white up to there, creating the crescent. Beautiful coin, and for $40, a great buy!

I like it- the toning is very nice. 1881-O morgans start to get a little expensive around MS64, so I think you got a pretty good deal.....
