Since everyone loves "ebay bloopers" so much can we share stories?

I'll go first since I am starting this thread!

I have just started to sell stuff on ebay. I very clearly state in all my pages that I only ship within the Untied States of America, and that I accept check, and paypal. So My first sale guess what? I have some guy from Canada who won the item and then he tries to pay me with a credit card. So I am like well things happen and I ship it out to him. So with my newly items I clearly stated the same stuff, with no paypal now. On 4 out of 13 items I have some guy from, you guessed it, Canada. I am not going to inform him now, I will wait to see if the price goes up,and if I get a new bidder. If it does not I will tell him I am not shipping out of the US.

Anyone else,
Diane

My last auction clearly stated no people named Russ can bid.. Sure as hell a Russ bid and WON... What is this world coming to...
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • I had a 1964 Accented Hair Kennedy listed on ebay today. It is already gone to a BIN, but I got this email back from a guy whom I answered a question for.

This is extremely hilarious, especially if you know my history of Kennedy collecting!

<< <i>Also, just so you know in the event you don't know coins, if that is a real accented hair Kennedy proof, it's worth tens if not MUCH MORE times the buy-it-now price you have listed. >>

<< <i>You might want to look into it if you know the coin is not a fake. >>

    Dot,
FYI, you can go into Ebay Preferences on your My Ebay page, and towards the bottom there's a selection to not allow bidders from countries to which you don't ship. That will solve that problem.

I have one guy now who tried to pay me with a credit card in Paypal (though the auction clearly states NO credit cards), and he emails me yesterday (after about 10 days) asking what the problem is. I told him I sent him 3 emails explaining it and he replied he emails from ebay are blocked by his spam filter because they send so much junk. Duh!
  • Thank you Barry, I did not know you could do that. Like I said I just started "ebaying". I will remember to do that on all future listings. See you never know what you can learn on this board. hehehe

  • Diane, selling to overseas buyers is not all that difficult, although the nuances can vary from country to country. Certainly you don't want to leave some poor, frozen Canuck bereft of his winter warmth from the pleasure of adding a new coin to his collection! image Feel free to post any questions you may have on the World & Foreign Coins board -- the home of the Dark Side -- and we can walk you through it. image

My only deadbeat bidder did his ebay bidding at work in DC.
From a government desk and computer. Gov. phone# and email address.
