1917D 3 1/2 Leg buffalo nickel PCGS MS64

Here's a rare opportunity for a rare coin. This is the FS-016.42, AKA 1917D 3 1/2 leg buffalo nickel. This variety was caused in much the same manner as the 37D three legger, but the damage isn't quite as extensive. This variety is one of four 3 1/2 leg dates, the others being 1926D, 1927D, and 1936D. The FS# and variety are not listed on the slab, as PCGS doesn't recognize this variety. If you wanted to cross it to NGC, you would have a top pop- NGC has only graded one in MS, and that was a MS61. These varieties come along every now and then in lower grades, but is extremely rare with a full horn, and scarce in mint state. This one is one point shy of gem, and lives up to its grade. Offered here in BST first before it goes to flea-bay. I'm not going to quote a price, but will entertain offers. Please PM me or email if you like.
