Interesting Token (?) Metal (?) Coin (?) I Picked up Today

I just thought it was cool. The obverse looks like a Bust quarter (it's about that size too, maybe a touch larger) with a neat "Tom Thumb" reverse.

Any idea what it is?

  • That would be a token. It might be a political token. But it looks great.image

    hey Pat

you've struck paydirt, my friend. that's a very rare Quaker Quarter issued by that denomination in the mid 1840's. most were pulled from circulation at the behest of our Uncle with the remaining specimens ending up saved for their novelty. they rarely find it to the point of sale and can almost never be located in grades above VF. many are unaware of the important symbolic significance of "General Tom Thumb" with regard to the Quakers. hold onto it!!

Keets, So I take it paying $2. wasn't crazy on my part?!
I just thought it had a neat appeal, what with the obverse looking like regular struck coinage and all.

I couple that with the fact I've never seen one before and figured what's my downside?
