Boy howdy!!!!! You don't often see a 1966 SMS Jefferson that looks like this one!

Extraordinary mirror clarity and reflectivity on this puppy! Looks like a late 1960's proof coin. Every now and then one gets away from Marty.

Yeah, right. I guess that was your doppelganger that BINed that 1966 set a couple days ago.

i have a 65DCAM in my set that looks like that, complete with jawline planchet flaws and weak strike. it's been my experience that the best coins as far as frost/mirrors/contrast also happen to be struck on some of the worst planchets. way to go paranoid U.S. Mint of the mid 60's!!!

That's what I have this one figured for. Low grade, but when one considers there are only 23 in all grades, I'll take it!

That would be one of those rare times I'd love to lose a bet!

hey Don
what it is and what it holders at are two distinctly different answers to the same question.
uh, uh................which is the correct answer is another question that begs multiple answers!!!

The Mint seemed to produce a few cameo Jeffs in '67 but in '65 and even in '66 it seemed they really couldn't produce the goods.

I think it's helpful for the graders to have a lesser coin for comparison purposes.
