I do not know anything about it. I suspect that there are others who do not either. Could someone, in three senetences or fewer, explain what it is about? Thanks.

When someone says a coin is one of the "Top 100 VAMs", they mean that it is listed in the Top 100 VAMs book, which is a subset of the regular VAM book. It incoprorates the 100 most popular Morgan and Peace Dollar varieties into a small pamphlet/book that can be easily used for cherrypicking. The top 100 VAMs are not necessarily the most valuable, but some of them are quite popular and/or valuable. I'm assumign you know this already, but VAM is derived from the authors' initials.

There are literally thousands and thousands of different VAMs. I was talking yesterday with one of the 'founding fathers' of the VAM concept, Jeff Oxman, and he said the Top 100 was developed as a way to create broader awareness and interest in the concept of Morgan varieties by distilling the "known Morgan variety world" at that time down to a manageable number. Many more VAMs have been discovered since and the Top 100 might change a bit if it was reinvented today, but I think the Top 100 concept has certainly achieved its original intended effect.
    When in doubt, don't.
